The wildlife in The Creaking Tree are very much part of the book, especially the ducks Louisa befriends. Well, Tumorhead, Webby, and Quackers are based on three very real ducks at my parents' cabin. Like the fowls in the book, they also traveled in a trio and were incredibly friendly and fearless. Sadly, all three ducks have passed away and I don't have a picture of the trio. Just Tumorhead and Webby.
